Steko timber building in Paderborn insulated with THERMOFLOC!
For many years, Germany's social housing system has been characterized by a shortage of affordable rental homes.
Commissioned by GMP (the facility management of the city of Paderborn), a (turnkey) four-family dwelling is being built in Paderborn. Along with Steko wood modules and other building materials, Thermofloc breather membranes and Thermofloc blown-in insulation were used in the construction of this building. The Thermofloc breather membrane served as a base for the roof covering and as a wind-proof, diffusion-open layer on the façade sides.
The Thermofloc cellulose insulating material was filled with an installation height of 25 cm between the beams and the purlin roof above the story ceiling. The interior works were carried out with plasterboards and a dry construction method was used for the floor. Construction of this four-family dwelling began in mid-April and the delivery of the building to the developer GMP (the facility management of the city of Paderborn) was already in August Despite the short construction time of the building and compared to other construction methods, no problems whatsoever in connection with residual moisture have been reported so far.
Walo Holz GmbH from Hannover was responsible for the turnkey construction of this building. The Thermofloc breathing membrane and the Thermofloc blown-in insulation were processed by EnergyDämm, our Thermofloc experts from Paderborn.
Based on the implementation and the corresponding benefits further building projects using this construction method are planned.
